South Africa has lost one of its most recognisable and beloved entertainment figures with the passing of Soli (Solly) Philander (19 January 1961 – 4 March 2026). The actor, comedian, radio personality and television presenter died in Cape Town at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer, bringing to a close a career that spanned more than four decades and touched multiple generations of South Africans.

Comic Con Cape Town 2026: A Celebration of Fandom Culture Comes Alive

Marie Fredriksson - Dead at 61
Songbird and voice of Roxette, Marie Fredriksson has passed away at the age of 61. The swedish pop star had been fighting a lengthy battle with brain cancer since being diagnosed on 13 September, 2002, after a fall at her home. Best known as the big voice of swedish pop act Roxette, Fredriksson finally succumbed to the disease on the Monday morning.
